Public Meeting Notice

The Public Works and Transportation Department is pleased to announce work to improve approximately five lane-miles of Avenue H, from SH 360 to Great Southwest Parkway, is scheduled to begin January 2020. This revitalization project is expected to take approximately 18 months and will bring much needed roadway and drainage improvements to one of Arlington’s vital industrial areas.

Improvements planned under this project include:

• Reconstructing 4-lane divided concrete roadway
• Asphalt reclamation of 108th and 111th Street to city limits
• Storm water infrastructure improvements
• Renewing water and sanitary sewer lines
• Streetlight improvements
• Sidewalks and landscaping improvements

The City uses an annual pavement survey program to inventory the condition of all streets within the city limits. The condition of each street segment is reported as an Overall Condition Index (OCI) Rating between 0-100 based on the “ride” and “distress” of the segment. Roads with a rating lower than 50 are called “red streets” and recommended for inclusion in the department’s Capital Improvement Program. Roads with a rating between 50 and 70 are called “yellow” streets and are included in the City’s Street Maintenance Program. The current OCI rating for this section of Avenue H is 47 but will be increased to 100 when construction is completed.
