Imagine the struggle living without central heat and air in Texas. It was the reality Rosa Sifuentes and her family faced for nearly four years. They got by with portable units and space heaters but struggled to feel comfortable in their own home.

Sifuentes learned about the City of Arlington's Housing Rehabilitation program and decided to reach out. The program helps income-qualified homeowners repair and/or rehabilitate their homes.

Little did she know, Houk Air Conditioning had just donated two Trane heating and cooling units to the program. Houk has been based in Arlington for 57 years and was looking to bless two families with its act of kindness.

"To provide it to someone in need like Rosa is truly a blessing," said Scott Fowler, with Houk Air Conditioning.

The City's Housing Authority put Sifuentes and Houk in touch. A few weeks later, a team from the company was at Sifuentes' home, installing the new unit.

"It's exciting to see what is happening here in our community. When people need help, somebody's stepping up," said Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams.

Sifuentes was moved to tears while describing what the gift meant to her.

"I can speak for my family, it's tremendous. There's no way we could have done that," Sifuentes said. "I'm so grateful, and thankful."
