Even in these times of uncertainty, we can come together to support the local small businesses and restaurants across Arlington that help make The American Dream City a vibrant place to live, work, play and learn. Many of these businesses have offered support to our schools, youth sports teams, nonprofits and community events over the years - now’s the time to return the favor!

Be sure to check your favorite Arlington businesses’ websites and social media pages for news about online ordering, delivery, curbside pick-up, drive-thru and shipping options they may be offering to customers. Just remember, when venturing out to pick up your food, merchandise and supplies from these shops, please maintain social distancing - keeping at least six feet away from others - and follow other CDC health and wellness recommendations to help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19. Let’s all do our part to keep our residents healthy and our businesses thriving.

One great new resource is Downtown Arlington’s Downtown Delivers online guide.

“We are seeing lots of innovation with our businesses, not just the restaurants, and we are trying to pivot and be as responsive and relevant as possible during these difficult times. Downtowns are fragile places, they rely on the huge volume of people that work there, and visit there,” said Maggie Campbell, Downtown Arlington president and CEO. “ We really do need to support them if we expect these small and many local businesses to survive this crisis. Our restaurants are also an important provider of fresh food and meal delivery to many that may not have that access, so there are many reasons to support our restaurants and keep them in business during this difficult time.”

The Arlington Highlands shopping center also has updated information about its restaurants and businesses available on its website.

The Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce has also created an online way for Arlington business to announce new hours, closures or services: https://www.arlingtontx.com/news/member-news/

“Arlington’s small businesses unite in common purpose to lift each other and our community. It is the “can do” Arlington way,” said Michael Jacobson, president and CEO of the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce. “Now more than ever we need to take care of each other. Together, we succeed.”

The City of Arlington recognizes how important small businesses are to our economy. We have identified some resource information that they may find helpful in this challenging business environment. The City will continue to update the Small Business Guide and Support Arlington Restaurants links at www.arlingtontx.gov/coronavirus as more information and resource information becomes available.

"Let's still shop local by taking advantage of to-go options, getting food delivered and showing our strong support for our small businesses. After all, small businesses are the backbone of our can-do spirit. And we want to do everything we can as a community to help everyone during this difficult time," Mayor Jeff Williams said.
