If you do not claim a statutory exemption or qualification, you should report for jury service as ordered by this summons.  You do not need to appear in person if you are exempt or not qualified for jury service. To claim an exemption or report your disqualification, please select the appropriate box indicated below.  The Municipal Court will ONLY contact you after you have submitted your form by your preferred method if additional information is required.  

Jury Exemptions: (Texas Government Code, Section 62.106)
Exemptions are legal reasons to be excused from Jury Duty without having to report to the Court.  Exemptions are optional. You are able to waive those and serve. If you agree to serve report for jury service, it is not necessary to claim an exemption.  However, if you qualify for an exemption from jury service and wish to be excused, you may establish your exemption without appearing in person by selecting the appropriate statutory exemption below.  

Jury Qualifications: (Texas Government Code, Section 62.102 except where noted)
In order to serve as a juror, you must meet certain requirements by law.  Those requirements are the qualifications to serve.  You may find these qualifications on the back of your jury summons and below.  If you do not meet those requirements, you cannot serve at the Arlington Municipal Court.  You are required to file the reason for disqualification below.

Exempt or Disqualified: You do not need to appear in person if you are exempt or not qualified for jury service. To claim an exemption or report your disqualification, please select the appropriate box indicated below:

To claim a statutory exemption, please select one of the following below:

You are over 75 years of age.
You have legal custody of a child or children younger than 12 years of age and service on the jury would require leaving the child or children without adequate supervision.
You are a student at a public or private high school.
You are enrolled and attend college;
You are an officer or an employee of the senate, the house of representatives, or any department, commission, board, office, or other agency in the legislative branch of state government.
You are the primary caretaker of a person who is unable to care for himself or herself. (This exemption does not apply to health care workers.)
You have served as a juror in this county during the 24-month period prior to the date you are required to appear by this summons. (Applies only to counties with populations of at least 200,000 unless the county uses a jury plan under 62.011, Government Code, and the period authorized under Section 62.001 (b)(6) exceeds two years.)
You have been summoned for jury service in a county with a population of 250,000 and you have served as a petit juror in the county during the three-year period preceding the date you are to appear jury service.

To claim a disqualification, please select one of the items below for which you do not qualify:  

be at least 18 years of age;
be a citizen of this state and a resident of the city in which you are to serve as a juror;
be qualified under the Constitution and laws to vote in the county in which you are to serve as a juror (Note: you DO NOT have to be registered to vote to be qualified to vote);
be of sound mind and good moral character;
be able to read and write;
not have served as a juror for six days during the preceding three months in the county court or during the preceding six months in the district court;
not have been convicted of theft or any felony; and not be under indictment or other legal accusation of a Misdemeanor theft, felony theft or any other felony charge.
be a resident of the municipality for which the court is established. (Government Code, Section 62.501; specific to municipal courts)
