The muggy heat didn't stop incoming freshman and their parents from hauling in clothes, computers, school supplies, dorm refrigerators and other must-have items during UT Arlington's Move-in Day event on Monday.
"We're excited that the day is finally here,"said Cheri Rion, who was helping move in her daughter Halie.
"We had more than 500 students move in yesterday and we expect around 4,000 to move in today,"said UT Arlington President Vistasp M. Karbhari. "It's really great to have the city out here helping out."
New Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams and other city council members were also on hand along with hundreds of upper class student volunteers to offer much appreciated help moving in the incoming freshmen.
"They'll be tears and cheers,"said City Councilman Charlie Parker. "I remember when we took our son to Stephen F. Austin to move him in. After we left him, my wife and I cheered and high-fived each other in the car."
