Drivers are enjoying the smoother commute along E. Lamar Boulevard in the Entertainment District, thanks to the new and improved roadway.

According to the project engineer, Lamar Boulevard was fully reconstructed and widened from a four lane asphalt roadway to a six lane concrete roadway from Collins Street to Ballpark Way.

Additional improvements included storm drain renewal, water renewal, sanitary sewer renewal, LED streetlights, LED pedestrian lighting, sidewalks and landscaping.

This nearly $9.2 million project opened in February after nearly two years of construction.

There are only a few street projects still under construction that are funded by the 2008 bond program.
