It's baseball season once again in Arlington.
On a sunny spring day, fans filled Globe Life Park in Arlington to celebrate the Texas Rangers home opener against the Seattle Mariners.
In addition to introducing fun new fares such as Flamin' Hot Cheetos hot dogs and a $27 massive pork sandwich named the Wicked Pig, the team made several improvements to the stadium during the offseason.
The most noticeable change is a new LED video display, which measures approximately 34 feet tall and 100 feet wide, that will allow fans seated in the right field to see replays and other in-game entertainment. The Texas Rangers also became the fourth Major League Baseball team - behind the Mariners, Yankees and Padres, to install LED lighting. Team officials say the lights are 50 percent brighter and use about 40 percent less energy.
Other changes include four new foul poles, additional protective netting and 105 new parking spaces.
"For the past five or six years, we've had some major structural renovations. While it might not seem like we've done a lot this winter, it's actually been pretty busy, said Rob Matwick, Texas Rangers Executive Vice President of Ballpark Operations.
In all, the team has invested more than $50 million into the stadium during the past six seasons, Matwick said.
