Most of our residents live in neighborhoods with either a Homeowners Association or some other type of Neighborhood Association. There are specific issues that residents in these small communities can address which will assist us with preventing stormwater pollution. This presentation explains the City's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System or MS4 and how it conveys stormwater to our creeks, streams and lakes. As stormwater moves through the City's storm drain system, it picks up pollutants. This presentation will define the different types of pollution: point source and non-point source as well as give examples of each. Specific neighborhood issues such as pet waste, vehicle maintenance, vehicle washing, grass clippings, yard waste, proper pesticide and fertilizer usage as well as blowing trash are the primary focus of this presentation. However, the City's MS4 is integral in minimizing the effects of heavy rain events, Therefore information concerning flood insurance and flood safety will also be provided.
