The “Official Band of Arlington” continues preparations for its spring concert of the Greatest Western Movie Themes set for 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 27, 2022 at Veterans Park Band Shell and Pavilion, located at 3600 W. Arkansas Lane.

“The Arlington Community Band is a group of volunteer adults that love music, like to perform, and we want to perform free concerts to the general public here in Arlington,” Artistic Director and Conductor Rick Baker said. “The Arlington Community Band was started by former University of Texas at Arlington Band Director Dr. Ray Lichtenwalter in 1982.”

The Mar. 27 concert is set to feature songs from “Dances With Wolves,” Fantasy on Old Cowboy Songs,” “Paint Your Wagon,” “Silverado,” “The Cowboys,” “The Magnificent Seven,” “Willian Tell Overture” and more. The concert is free to the public and those who plan to attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the show.

“Arlington, I’ve always felt like, has pushed everything to be the best,” Baker said. “I feel like our group feels that. I think they feel very prideful and want to do a good job for the community.”
