Veritex Bank Championship at Texas Rangers Golf Club

Welcome the future stars of the PGA TOUR back to the Lone Star State from Apr. 10-16, 2022 at Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington for the 2022 Veritex Bank Championship. This week, 156 of the best golfers in the world will return to Arlington pursuing their dream of earning a PGA TOUR card. This is the path to the PGA TOUR. In addition to the on-site hospitality, the Korn Ferry Tour will stream live coverage of the Veritex Bank Championship. Rangers battle Los Angeles Angels at Globe Life Field

Your hometown Rangers look to defend home Globe Life Field with a weekend series against the Los Angeles Angels. Friday, Apr. 15, 2022 will mark exactly 50 years to the date that the Rangers had its first Major League Baseball game. The opponent on Apr. 15, 1972: the California Angels out in Anaheim, California. Though the name has changed to the Los Angeles Angles, the two American League West rivals will meet this time in Arlington 7:05 p.m. Friday, Apr. 15, 2022, 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 16, 2022, and 1:35 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 17, 2022. Arlington Comic Fest at Bob Duncan Center

The Arlington Comic Fest presented by The Otaku Box, returns to the Bob Duncan Center on Apr. 15-16, 2022. Arlington Comic Fest will once again bring comic, sci-fi, anime and fantasy fans together for one exciting event. Buy from artists, authors and general vendors. Arlington Bass Classic at Lake Arlington

Reel in the big one at the Arlington Bass Classic 6:00 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 16, 2022 at Lake Arlington.  Reminder: A current 2022 boat permit is required and can be purchased at the Richard Simpson Lake House or online. The initial $20 payment is to reserve your spot. $80 balance will be due on-site Saturday, Apr. 16, 2022, cash only. Mandatory pre-tournament meeting is at 6:45 a.m., Richard Simpson Lake House. Tournament begins at 7:00 a.m.

Schedule of Events: 

  • 6:00 - 6:40 a.m.: Registration & Check-In at Richard Simpson Park
  • 6:45 a.m.: Pre-Tournament Meeting at Lake House
  • 6:55 a.m.: National Anthem
  • 7:00 a.m.: Tournament Starts
  • 2:30 p.m: Tournament Ends - boats must be inside buoys
  • 3:00 p.m.: Deadline to Weigh-In

Barnstormer Saturday at Arlington Municipal Airport

Relive history, honor our veterans, and preserve aviation history at the Barnstormer Saturday event 9:00 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 16, 2022 at the Arlington Municipal Airport. Chess Club Tournament at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library 

The Arlington Public Library’s Chess Club is excited to offer a Chess Club Tournament. Students between the ages of 7 and 16 are invited to participate in this four-round, Swiss-style, non-elimination tournament. No fee required, but players need to register for tournament at information table on the 3rd floor between 9:15 – 9:30 a.m. on event day. First round begins at 9:30 a.m. with other rounds following as games are finished. Students have a chance to play four games. Trophies will be awarded to the top winners. Trophies provided by Arlington Chess Club. Players will need to follow these rules: Silent Play, Silent Observation or Visit the library when not playing, and One Touch. Easter “B’egg” Day at The Beacon

Spence Jr. vs. Ugas at AT&T Stadium 

Unbeaten World Boxing Council (WBC) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) Welterweight World Champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. and WBA Welterweight World Champion Yordenis Ugas will square off in a welterweight championship unification showdown on Saturday, Apr. 16, 2022 from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas headlining a Premier Boxing Champions event. Spence-Ugas pits two of the best welterweight champions in the sport in a high-stakes unification match. Both men are coming off impressive victories over elite welterweights at the top class of the division. Spence defeated former champions Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter in his last two fights, while Ugas scored a thrilling upset victory over future Hall of Famer Manny Pacquiao. Count’s 77 at Arlington Music Hall  

Count’s 77, a hard rock band from Las Vegas, is fronted by lead singer Danny “Count” Koker, star of HISTORY’S hit series, “Counting Cars,” comes to the Arlington Music Hall 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Apr. 16, 2022. Tickets can be purchased on the Arlington Music Hall website

Jackals return to Choctaw Stadium

The Kindness Project Kicks Off with Arlington Public Library

The Arlington Public Library invites you to care for yourself and your community by joining us in a month-long celebration of Kindness with The Kindness Project. Pick up your Kindness Kit that includes a copy of Channel Kindness: Stories of Kindness and Community by The Born This Way Foundation Reporters and Lady Gaga, a compilation of projects initiated by people inspired to make a difference in their community. Supplies are limited. Share your thoughts or plan for action at one of our Coffee & Chats being held throughout our community in the month of April. Start small and be active by completing the Kindness Bingo Card. Enjoy our programs in Yoga, Tai Chi, Upcycled Art and Sustainable landscaping designed to explore kindness in its various forms, such as kindness to self, the environment and the community.
