Here are a few ways you can enjoy your weekend in The American Dream City. 

Celebrate Arlington’s annual Oktoberfest celebration 

Get ready to add some oompah to your weekend plans with live German music, food trucks, beverages, games and more at Arlington’s annual Oktoberfest celebration. Oktoberfest 2022 is set from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2022 at SJ Stovall Park, 2800 W. Sublett Road, in southwest Arlington. This family friendly event is sponsored by Arlington Parks and Recreation, Sister Cities of Arlington, Texas and the German Band of North Texas. The City of Arlington is celebrating the 70th anniversary of its Sister City relationship with Bad Konigshofen, a small northern Bavarian town in Germany. Click here to learn more about the history of Arlington’s relationship with its Sister City, a “Friendship Solid as a Rock” that started in 1951 and continues through this day. Food truck menus expected to include bratwurst, sauerkraut, sausage on a stick, tacos, fried chicken, pizza, beer and wine, shaved ice and more. While parking and entrance to Oktoberfest is free, food trucks and other vendors will accept cash or card for purchases.

9/11 Heroes Run

The DFW 9/11 Heroes Run takes place 9:11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022 at River Legacy Park. The 9/11 Heroes Run, organized by the Travis Manion Foundation, unites communities with the goal to never forget the sacrifices of the heroes of September 11th and the wars since: veteran, first responder, civilian and military. Arlington Football Showdown 

Southern University and Texas Southern University will play in the 2nd Annual Arlington Football Showdown on 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022 at Choctaw Stadium. It will be the first Historical Black College and University (HBCU) football classic of the year in North Texas. The game is presented by Lone Star Sports Inc. in conjunction with REV Entertainment. Hispanic Heritage Celebration at Levitt Pavilion Arlington

Join Levitt Pavilion Arlington for a Hispanic Heritage Celebration 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022. There will be vendors, food trucks, and of course music that will keep you dancing! Conjunto Cats is slated to take the stage at 5:30 p.m., followed by Latin Express at 7:00 p.m., and Sunny Sauceda at 8:30 p.m. The event is hosted by Arlington Mayor Jim Ross’ Latino Advisory Council. This concert is free! Open seating is available on the lawn. Please bring blankets and lawn chairs. You also can bring your own food and coolers with beverages, including alcohol, but no glass containers, please. Parking is free. For more information, visit the Levitt’s website

Before the Celebration, at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, Igimèjí is the opening artists for The Peterson Brothers. This is also a free concert. 

Cowboys host Bengals

America’s Team is back in The American Dream City, as the Cowboys host the Cincinnati Bengals 3:25 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022 at AT&T Stadium. With two home games to open the season, it’s the first time since 1990 the Cowboys play at home in Weeks 1 & 2. The Cowboys are 6-1 at home against the Bengals, with their only loss occurring in 1988. Limited tickets are available now at SeatGeek.com.

Red Hot Chili Peppers coming to Globe Life Field 

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced the band’s 2022 Global Stadium Tour includes a stop in The American Dream City at Globe Life Field 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022. Special guests for the concert in Arlington include The Strokes and Thundercat. Visit Globe Life Field’s website for ticket information.
