Arlington Water Utilities and Tarrant Regional Water District want to help residents shower better by switching to a showerhead that saves water and energy.

During October, Arlington Water Utilities residential customers can bring their old showerheads to customer service offices at 101 W. Abram St. or 1100 SW Green Oaks Blvd. and exchange it for a new water-efficient model. Each water customer can exchange a maximum of two showerheads for a WaterSense labeled model during the month. The promotion is available while supplies last.

By replacing just one showerhead with a WaterSense labeled model, EPA estimates the average family can save 2,700 gallons of water, the amount of electricity needed to power its home for 11 days, and more than $70 in energy and water costs every year. Changes we make at home will add up quickly across the country, according to the EPA. If every home in the U.S. replaced existing showerheads with WaterSense labeled models, we could save more than 260 billion gallons of water and nearly $5.4 billion in water and energy costs across the country annually.

Tarrant Regional Water District provides water that is treated and distributed by the City of Arlington. The two entities collaborate on numerous water-saving conservation initiatives, including a variety of online and in-person classes listed at SaveTarrantWater.com.
