Free Mammograms, Well Woman Exams, Flu and Covid-19 Vaccines and More Available at Oct. 14 Health Fair in Arlington

Are you an Arlington resident in need a mammogram, well woman exam, or flu and Covid-19 vaccines? City Council District 3 Representative Nikkie Hunter is hosting a free Breast Cancer Awareness Health Fair that is open to the public. The community event, which also includes other health and wellness information as well as food trucks, is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at the Bob Duncan Center, 2800 S. Center St. Covid-19 boosters and flu shots will be provided by Tarrant County Public Health, Mansfield Methodist and the Arlington Fire Department.

$150,000 Available Through Arlington's 2023 Neighborhood Matching Grant Program

The City of Arlington is pleased to announce another Neighborhood Matching Grant call for projects. Through this year’s program, $150,000 is available to fund improvement projects that will beautify and enhance the public spaces and strengthen neighborhoods throughout The American Dream City.

Neighborhoods can apply for up to $25,000 for their projects, which could include public art, beautification, landscaping, entrance signs, sidewalks, traffic calming or other neighborhood capacity building improvements. Learn how to apply for a Neighborhood Matching Grant at the next Information Session at 9 a.m. Oct. 7 at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, 100 S Center Street. Applications are due by Friday, Nov. 4. Learn more and apply.

Echoes from the Hill Screening on Oct. 18 at UTA

Enjoy a free screening of the “Echoes from the Hill” docuseries on Tuesday, October 18 at the University of Texas at Arlington. The Hill, which was an approximately five block area of the city, was the only historic addition platted specifically for Arlington’s African American residents. The documentary series explores what life was like for Black residents in this small community within Arlington. The screening will be at 7 p.m. in The Rosebud Theatre.

Do Good Fest Benefit Concert Comes to Levitt Arlington October 7

A benefit concert that has raised more than $300,000 in Vermont is coming to DFW this fall. The National Life Group Do Good Fest at Levitt Pavilion Arlington will support Parkland Health’s Pediatric Behavioral Health Program (PBH). The Do Good Fest will be Oct. 7 starting at 7:00 pm, at Levitt Pavilion Arlington, 100 W. Abram Street. The concert is free to attend, but donations for the Pediatric Behavioral Health Program at Parkland are encouraged. The event will feature food trucks, a Nonprofit Village, a VIP Lounge, and live music featuring Gangstagrass, an infectious fusion of socially conscious hip hop and bluegrass musical virtuosity, along with an opening act to be announced.
