harmful situations. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals (ASPCA) offers Thanksgiving Safety Tips to help keep your furry friends safe.
Small
pieces of thoroughly cooked, boneless and skinless Thanksgiving turkey may be
shared in small portions, but the ASPCA recommends keeping pets on their
regular diet during the holidays.
Winter
holidays are fast approaching. The American Veterinary Medical Association
(AVMA) offers Winter Holiday Pet Safety information to help plan in advance and 7 Ways to Make Holidays Safer for Pets.
It
is important to have pets microchipped and to keep owner contact information
for the chip current. Some pets may be accustomed to households full of
extended family and guests coming and going during the holidays, but others can
be shy or apprehensive about unfamiliar people. Consider keeping less
socialized pets in a quiet area at home with a comfortable crate or bed with
some soft music and toys to help them be less anxious during social gatherings.
