On July 31, Camp Cliff from Cliff Nelson Recreation Center held its 10th Annual Slime Time event, raising more than $200 in donations and canned goods for Mission Arlington.
Slime Time at Camp Cliff has become an annual tradition for campers. The week leading up to Slime Day, campers raised money to “donate” to their favorite counselor in hopes to “slime” them at the end of the week.
Camp counselors, Parks staff, and campers came together to pick this year’s donation location. It was a difficult decision this year as so many places are in need of help and feeling the weight of the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year’s donations went to Arlington Animal Shelter.
“Being able to be a part of a positive solution, especially during these times really mean a lot to us as a team,” said Jheron Thompson, Camp Cliff program coordinator. “Thank you to everyone who has played a role in making this tradition happen throughout this decade. It has truly been a team effort. Camp Cliff Means Family!”
Thompson won for the 10th consecutive year, getting more than $60 donated to his name. In previous years, he has received donations up to $120.
Campers were very excited to give back to Arlington! Their combined donation of over $200 along with canned goods were delivered to Mission Arlington on Aug. 5. Tillie Burgin, the executive director of Mission Arlington, kindly accepted the check and posed for a photo with Thompson.
