The U.S. Census Bureau announced today it will begin its Non-Response Follow-Up (NRFU) program in Tarrant County Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020. Census workers will be following up with households that have not completed their Census with in-person visits. The program runs through Sept. 30, 2020.
The goal remains the same: to gain a full and accurate count of everyone residing in our community. If a household responds to the Census in the interim -- either online, by phone or mail -- they will immediately come off the NRFU list and in-person follow-up will not be required.
If a Census Worker Comes to Your Door:
- They will present an ID badge with their name, photograph, a Department of Commerce watermark and an expiration date.
- They will have an official bag and Census Bureau-issued laptop or smartphone, bearing the Census Bureau logo.
- Census Workers will use personal protective equipment (masks, gloves) and will follow local public health COVID guidelines when they visit households, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
The Census Bureau Will Never Ask For:
- Your social security number, bank account or credit card numbers.
- Anything on behalf of a political party.
- Money or donations.
If you suspect fraud, call 844-330-2020 to speak with a Census Bureau Representative.
