Arlington Parks is happy to announce the completion of Cravens Park Trail improvements, which opened to the public June 10, 2020.

Trail improvements started in December 2019 and were completed Summer 2020.

Arlington’s approved $200,000+ trail improvements, replaced approximately 850 linear feet of 10-foot wide, concrete existing trail, which had been in place for over 20 years, with a new 12-foot-wide concrete trail. The portion of trail that was replaced was located between the existing ball fields at Cravens Park and Silo Road.

The scope of work also included replacing storm drain infrastructure. Four (4) new low water crossings were added to improve drainage and minimize flooding in the area. The four (4) low water crossings also received special stone veneer for added aesthetic appeal. Concrete encasement of an existing sanitary sewer pipeline, that was located under one of the low water crossings, was also included in the work.

The new concrete trail provides multi-purpose usage for a variety of recreational activities such as walking, jogging, biking, hiking and additional varied shared usage opportunities.

This project was funded through 2014 Bond funds. Council approved construction contract with Cole Construction, Inc. on Oct. 15, 2019. Visit the City's Bond Tracker webpage to learn more about projects approved by Arlington voters.

The Cravens Park Trail improvements align with the Arlington City Council priority to Champion Great Neighborhoods.
