The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation Awards Four New Grants at First Board Meeting of 2024

The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation Board of Directors approved four grants totaling $635,000 at its first board meeting of 2024.

The Foundation's mission is to contribute to a thriving Arlington by supporting the causes which benefit Arlington's citizens and enhance the natural surroundings and lifestyle of the city. The Foundation most recently approved the following grants:

Downtown Arlington – Downtown Arlington Doggie Depot | $100,000

Downtown Arlington is building their first off-leash dog area, nick-named the “Doggie Depot.” The Doggie Depot will serve as a one-stop station for residents and visitors to enjoy time with their pets. It will include ADA access, running water, lighting, dog waste stations, play areas for both small and large dogs, and eco-friendly fencing with mesh openings and an anti-climb design. Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County – Nutrition Program | $25,000

Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County aims to provide more than just a nutritious, the Nutrition program is also meant to address several community needs, including food insecurity, social isolation, and poor mental and physical health. Through the program, Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County offers home-delivered and congregate meals based on the client’s individual needs. They also seek to improve the health and well-being of their clients, while decreasing hospital visits and assisted living care, and saving money in Medicare and Medicaid spending. In 2022, the agency delivered 222,434 meals to 1,056 Arlington residents.

Texas Rangers Foundation – Senter Park Renovations All-Star Legacy Project | $500,000

The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation, City of Arlington, Major League Baseball, and Corey and Mady Seager have partnered to renovate Senter Park. It will become the new MLB & Texas Rangers All-Star Legacy Park and Corey Seager Batting Cages. This is the first 2024 All-Star Legacy project unveiled leading up to the 94th MLB All-Star Game this summer at Globe Life Field. The 2024 All-Star Legacy initiative will focus on projects that provide access for youth baseball and softball, support veterans and diverse and underserved communities, and the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation’s long-time partner, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County.

Water from the Rock – Filling the Food Gap | $10,000

Water From The Rock aims to connect low-to-moderate income individuals to the training, education, and support services they need to set them on a path to achieving self-sufficiency. The nonprofits grant for the Filling the Food Gap program will help increase their capacity to provide assistance to those who are food insecure in Arlington, going from six month to 12 months. The goal is also to purchase more fresh fruits and vegetables and provide their clients with healthier food options.

Since its creation, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation has awarded more than 500 grants totaling nearly $44 million to Arlington nonprofit organizations, City of Arlington departments and neighborhood groups for projects that help the public.
