Winners of the 2023 Arlington MLK Education, Government, and Community Awards.

The Arlington Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee Inc. calls for members of the community, those in education and government to be recognized for their commendable work in The American Dream City.

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Advancing the Dream Award in Education demonstrates "diversity in education" which strives to promote academics through high standards of excellence in leadership, involvement, and service. The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Advancing the Dream Award in Government exemplifies "accessible government" which strives to promote availability, knowledge, and use of government services through excellence in involvement, leadership, and making services available to all who need them. The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Advancing the Dream Award in Community exemplifies the "spirit of community service" which strives to promote standards of excellence through academics, leadership, involvement, and service.

For complete rules and nomination forms, click here. Winners will be announced at the Arlington MLK Celebration Advancing the Dream Awards Gala on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024. To make sure to consider impact makers in Arlington, the deadline for nominations has been extended. Nominations will be accepted until midnight, Friday, Dec. 22, 2023.

Arlington Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee Inc.

Organized in 1989 and established as a nonprofit in 1990, the MLK Celebration Committee has been an active contributor to the community for 35 years. The MLK Celebration Committee has given out scholarships to students, donated time and provided resources to the community while continuing to push forward the message and dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The committee is supported by the following organizations:
