The City Council of Arlington, Texas functions as the main legislative authority for the city, responsible for the governance, policymaking, and managing municipal services. Operating under a Council-Manger form of government, the City Council establishes polices and enacts local laws, while the City Manager, appointed by the council, handles the city’s daily operations.

The City Council meets every other week (without public comment) and an evening meeting (with opportunity for public comment). Special meetings noted with asterisks typically do not have both afternoon and evening sessions. All these meetings are open to the public. Afternoon meetings usually begin at 2:30PM and take place in the Council Briefing Room on the third floor of City Hall, 101 W. Abram Street. Evening meetings usually begin at 6:30PM and take place in the Council Chamber on the first floor of City Hall, 101 W. Abram Street. Agendas are posted at least 72 hours in advance, and meeting recordings will be made available within 24 hours of the meeting's conclusion. These meetings will remain accessible to the public for a minimum of 365 days after being posted.
