MARS Level 1

Introduction to Water Skills (Ages 5+)

MARS 1 is our basic learn to swim program with low student teacher ratios (4-6 students/instructor). We use a multi-station curriculum where swimmers learn a new skill at every
station. It begins as basic as learning to do a successful submersion for five seconds, and finishes with 10 - 20 yards of backstroke and freestyle, rolling to catch a breath. MARS 1 also has a huge emphasis on safety and comfort in the water. We strive to ensure every child will get plenty of individual attention, care, and instruction in a safe, effective and fun environment.

MARS Level 2

Fundamentals of Aquatic Skills (Ages 5+)

MARS 2 is our more advanced curriculum. Swimmers will see more success in MARS 2 if they are already comfortable in the water, can do a basic freestyle and backstroke across a pool, and are ready for the faster paced structure of the MARS 2 curriculum. Emphasis shifts
to refining freestyle and backstroke, and introducing the swimmers to breaststroke. Additionally, swimmers will work on body position and awareness in the water. You again strive to ensure every child will get plenty of individual attention, care, and instruction in a safe,
effective and fun environment.

MARS Level 3

Stroke Development (Ages 5+)

MARS 3 is our highest level in our beginner swimmer curriculum. MARS 3 continues where MARS 2 finishes, with continued refinement of strokes. Introduction of progression in diving into the water begin, as well as new focus on flutter, breaststroke and dolphin kicks. Refinement of breathing technique is emphasized. At the successful completion of MARS 3, the swimmer should be ready to enroll in our Stroke School or the Pre-Competitive group of our swim team.

Stroke School

Ages: 5+

The MARS Stroke School is the non-swim team complement of our Pre-Competitive group on the swim team. In Stroke School we emphasize technique, technique, technique. Stroke School swimmers need to be able to accomplish the skills required in MARS 3 (or equivalent) before registering. Dives and turns are part of this curriculum, as well building the swimmer’s endurance to complete 25 yards each of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke by the end of the course.
