Important Notice for Fire Permit Application
- Starting from November 18, 2019, all Fire Permits must continue to be reviewed by an approved Third-Party Organization before applying through ArlingtonPermits.com. This does not apply to permit applications with 9 sprinkler heads or less.
- Starting from March 26, 2020, we will ONLY accept new Fire Permit applications and associated plans and documents for review through ArlingtonPermits.com and ePlan review. No hard-copy submittals will be accepted. You will also be required to pay online along with your submittal. Instructions for electronic plan submittal is posted below. If you are experiencing difficulties uploading your files OR if you don't receive an email confirmation about the acceptance of your submittal within two business days of your application, please email us at servicerep@arlingtontx.gov and we will call you back.
Notice for Revision to Approved Plans
Revision to Approved permits is not yet available to be submitted online. However, in the wake of COVID-19, we are temporarily requiring the Revision to Approved Plans Application to be filled out electronically and emailed to plansexam@arlingtontx.gov. We will email you when fees are available to pay online at ArlingtonPermits.com.
Important Notice for Certificate of Occupancy Application
Effective Wednesday, August 5, 2020, the Certificate of Occupancy Application is available online at ArlingtonPermits.com.
A Certificate of Occupancy (CO) is a legal document issued to a business to certify that it's commercial building, office space, or other working space complies with local building and land use codes. It also certifies that the building is fit for occupancy.
A business must apply for a Certificate of Occupancy (CO) for one of the following:
a) New Tenant
b) Existing Business / New Owner
c) Same Business Owner / New Business Name
d) Expanding Lease Space
e) Shell Building
f) House Lights
g) Clean and Show - a Clean and Show is used by a property management company to prepare a commercial space for showing to a prospective tenant.
To apply for a CO, you will need to know your North American Industry Classification, or NAICS Code.
If you are applying for a CO for Multi-Family, Mini Warehouse, or an Ambulatory Care Facility, then you must complete an Addendum form before starting the application process. The Addendum captures important information about the property that must be attached/submitted during the application process. These addendums can be found on the City of Arlington website under Applications and Forms by clicking here.
The application review will not begin until all required fields are completed and the following have been received:
- Copy of current driver's license or other government issued ID
- Sales Tax ID Number or Tax Exempt Number
- Addendum (if applicable):
- Multi-Family
- Mini warehouse
- Ambulatory Care Facility
Your Certificate of Occupancy is not considered ISSUED until all fees are paid and you PASS all inspections.
