Councilman Long Pham came to the United States of America in 1975 as a refugee from South Vietnam and lived in Oklahoma City, OK for 30 years. He attended Oklahoma City Public School and graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1987.  In 1985 Long enlisted in the Oklahoma Army Nation Guard (OKARNG) and in 1987 received his United States Army Reserve Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry and served in the OKARNG from 1985 until 1992. Councilman Pham then served with the United States Army Reserve for 25 more years from 1992, until his retirement in 2017 as a Colonel.  During his career in the Army Reserve Components, Councilman Pham was mobilized and served on Active Duty for over 38 months in support of Operations Noble Eagle and Endurance Freedom.  Long was the Commanding Officer for the 4003rd United States Army Reserve Garrison Support Unit at Fort Hood, Texas, from 2003 until 2005.  In 2012, he was selected to command the Warrior Transition Battalion in El Paso, TX, and commanded the Battalion from 2012 until 2013. 

Councilman Pham moved to the city of Arlington, Texas from Oklahoma City, OK in 2005.  He has lived in South Arlington for 17 years with his wife of 25 years, former Hao Kim Huynh and they have one daughter named Kathy Megan Pham.  Kathy attended AISD from Pre-K to High School.  Kathy graduated from Martin High School in 2017 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Texas, in 2021.  Kathy is now working full-time as a nurse at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Councilman Pham has recently retired after being employed in the Auto Insurance industry for the past 25 years. He is now focusing on serving on the Arlington City Council and his constituents.
