CSM Preseason Sun Belt All-Conference Teams
UT Arlington women 's basketball center Rebekah VanDijk was named to the College Sports Madness Preseason Sun Belt All-Conference first team.
"This is a great honor for Rebekah, " UT Arlington coach Krista Gerlich said. "I 'm happy people are seeing the potential she has on the court. It 's great for her to be recognized and I 'm looking forward to seeing what she does this season. "
The Nazareth, Texas native came in and immediately made an impact during her first year at UTA. The sophomore earned the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year award, led all Division I freshmen with 15 double-doubles and was one of two overall in the conference to average a double-double in 2014-15.
With an average 13.2 points and 10.4 rebounds a game, VanDijk led the Lady Mavericks to the largest turnaround in NCAA Division I as UTA increased its win total by 13 games from the previous season. Her 298 rebounds last year are seventh all-time in UTA single-season history.
The Lady Mavs open their season in the 2015 Preseason WNIT against Baylor on Nov. 13. The Sun Belt season begins Dec. 30 at CPC against Georgia State.
