Six Flags Over Texas reopens this weekend, February 25 and 26! Residents and visitors don't want to miss a minute of the fun as Six Flags kicks off its 2017 season from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. This spring, the park is introducing a groundbreaking new experience. For the first time ever, experience mixed reality on a VR coaster! On Galactic Attack, riders will be completely immersed in a 360-degree virtual gameplay adventure while riding Shock Wave. Both the UTA Men's and Women's Basketball teams square off against South Alabama at College Park Center this Saturday, February 25, 2017 in Downtown. The Lady Mavs, currently in third place in the Sun Belt (17-7, 10-4), tip-off at 2 p.m. CT followed by the first place Men's Basketball team (21-6, 11-3) at 4:30 p.m. CT. Arlington, are you ready to rock? This musical involves more than 30 children in cast and crew roles. All of the participants are under the age of 18 and most are residents of Arlington, Mansfield and Grand Prairie. School of Rock runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until March 5. Tickets cost $15 for individuals and $12 for groups of 10+. This musical, which lasts about 2 hours, is recommended for audiences ages 10 and up. Tickets are still available to attend the School of Rock: Youth Production. The show opened Friday, Feb. 17 at Theatre Arlington, 305 W. Main St, and runs through March 5.
Dr. Stephen Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) life changes after a car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he looks for healing in a mysterious enclave. He quickly learns that the enclave is at the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying reality. Before long, Strange is forced to choose between his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence. All Arlington residents and visitors are invited to watch this movie in the Rosebud Auditorium at UTA! There will two viewing opportunities 4 p.m. & 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24. UTA Planetarium has announced its spring schedule of shows through May 28, 2017. This lineup includes Phantom of the Universe, a new planetarium show that unveils scientists' efforts to explore Dark Matter. The show focuses on the Large Hadron Collider, the gigantic underground particle detector which is being used to explore the inner workings of the matter. Dark Matter is invisible and we only know of its existence due to its gravitational effect. It is believed that 85 percent of the matter in the universe is Dark Matter.
