The Arlington Public Library is very excited to announce that Mallissa Daniels is the Volunteer of the Month for September 2016!

Mallissa began volunteering for the library in 2014 after her youngest went to school. She said she needed something to do. The Arlington Public Library was extremely fortunate enough to have her choose us! She has volunteered as a GED Tutor, a Book Wrangler for the Central Library and now in our Cataloging department with General Clerical duties. She also helped set up the Central collection at the warehouse when the Central Library closed down.

She is very detailed oriented and according to library staff "self-motivated and will independently find tasks, then she will work until the project is complete."

When asked what she enjoys most about being a volunteer she said "working with the staff."

Mallissa is a graduate from Sam Houston High and the University of Texas at Arlington where she received a degree in Chemistry. She worked as a test engineer for Vought Aircraft. She is currently a very busy mother of three school-aged children. Not only does she volunteer at the library but with Arlington Independent School District and Habitat for Humanity where she will be attending their college to become a Cornerstone Volunteer. The staff recognizes her busy schedule and admires her dedication.

"She is unfailingly punctual and reliable...she never fails us or them!"

Dan Bull, supervisor of this department, precisely summed up how important she is to his work group and the organization.

"Mallissa brings a winsome combination of skills and attributes...She's reliable, accurate, takes evident pride in her work, and is a pleasure to know and be around. Her time is a gift to our department, our library, and our city," Bull said.
