Downtown Arlington can now boast about its newest addition, a full-service Starbucks in the UT Arlington Bookstore on the north edge of campus at 400 Spaniolo Drive.
UT Arlington officials, students, City Council representatives and chamber members gathered Thursday, Sept. 17, for the grand opening of what is a great step forward for the heart of the American Dream City.
The university is now one of only eight Follett Higher Education Group bookstores in the U.S. and Canada to include a full-service Starbucks. The store opening marks the beginning of the second phase renovation of the UTA Bookstore, which will undergo a major overhaul this fall and transform into a flagship store serving the downtown Arlington community this spring.
The new UTA Bookstore Starbucks and its expansive outdoor seating create a pedestrian-friendly connection between UT Arlington's 20-acre College Park District and Downtown Arlington. During the next eight months, the store will undergo a major renovation to reshape the property into a showcase location for bookstore operator Follett Higher Education and for students, faculty and staff, and the broader Arlington community.
In addition to the Starbucks, a new Texadelphia restaurant opened this week in the College Park District at 445 Spaniolo Drive.
Downtown Arlington is experiencing a renaissance, from the thriving live music scene centered on the Levitt Pavilion to the restaurants proliferating along Abram Street and 101 Center, the mixed-use, urban infill development that will include market-rate apartments on the site of the City's former central library.
