September is Library Card Signup Month, a time when the Arlington Public Library joins the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to remind families about the most beneficial card in your wallet or on your keychain your library card!
Arlington residents of any age are eligible to hold a library card, and this September, the Arlington Public Library wants the youngest members of your family to get their very own My First Library Card. Designed specifically for children ages 0-4-years-old, this card provides the same checkout limits as a child or adult card, allowing you to stock up on great books for your little one to enjoy at home. And when you sign your child up for a My First Library Card in the month of September, it comes with a free book and tote bag!*
Reading to your child from the very beginning of life sets the foundation for a lifelong love of reading. Interacting with books, listening to the rhythm of a story, and seeing the colorful illustrations on a page helps engage the senses while forging a bond between you and your little one.
In addition to a variety of books, read-it-again kits, and DVDs, the library offers storytimes for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers to help you along your reading journey with your child. Storytimes take place at library branches across Arlington.
Information about library cards can be found online or by visiting any Arlington Public Library branch.
*Books and tote bags available while supplies last.
