The price is right if you are in the market for low-cost reading and listening material at the Friends and Foundation of the Arlington Public Library Fall Book sale at the Meadowbrook Recreation Center.

Opening Wednesday, Sept. 26, the semi-annual event is a gigantic "bargain basement" for book lovers, according to Chairman Wayne Halliburton.

"Average prices range from fifty cents to two dollars per item, with slightly higher prices for more recent material and collectibles. And our closing half-price day is always a big draw for our avid customers," said Halliburton.

Divided into more than 45 specialized categories, this Fall's selections will contain a varied "Collection" assortments in both general and Best in Sale areas. They include material concerning Gone with the Wind, the State of Texas, Star Wars and Star Trek, rare classic bindings, collectible railroad VCRs, sports trading cards, and framed art and other prints. Also, there will be an extended area for audio books and Texana.

The FFAPL sale, which benefits our local libraries, also contains non-print items such as DVDs, CDs, and records.

"We are so grateful for the wonderful donations given by the community to us. It is what makes these sales extra special for the customers," said Warehouse Manager Cathy Dietz. "Especially popular is our odds and ends table, which contains stuffed animals, games, puzzles, and other non-print oddities donated to us. You never know what can be found there!"

The Meadowbrook Park sale runs Sept. 26-30. Opening night, Wednesday, is for Members Only. Memberships can be obtained at the door. Hours Wednesday & Thursday are from 2 p.m.-7 p.m.; Friday & Saturday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday is Half-Price and Tax-Free Day. Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Starting at 5:15 p.m. and running to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday is Teacher/Non-Profit time. With a suggested $5 donation and proper non-profit I.D., they are allowed to shop for whatever is left on the tables.
