City employees, students, and families alike filled the lawn of the Levitt Pavilion Friday afternoon for the return of Parks and Recreation's Food Truck Friday: Fall Series.
Last week's vendors were Whats Cook-N Chef, Rockin Ricks, Say Kimichi, Samson's Dogs, Toadally Ice, Cup Cakin, and for the first time, Steel City Pops.
Parks and Recreation Special Events Coordinator Bob Abbott said Best Bayou Bites is also a new vendor this fall and will be present at Food Truck Fridays later this month.
Dylan Jackson works at Steel City Pops' Fort Worth location and said he enjoyed his first time working at a Food Truck Friday event. He said many people from Arlington drive out to Fort Worth for the popsicles, and he was glad to see some familiar faces and to bring the experience to the people right here in Arlington.
Niki Davis is a student at UTA and was an attendee of Food Truck Friday. It was her first time to attend the event at the Levitt Pavilion, but she has attended a Food Truck Friday Night at River Legacy in the past. Niki said the Levitt is a good place for the event and that she likes how family friendly it is.
"It's a really unique lunch experience," Davis said.
The Levitt Pavilion is a great place to hold the event because of its centrality, bringing together office workers, students, city employees and families, Abbott said. It also showcases the Levitt Pavilion right as it kicks off its fall concert schedule.
Food Truck Friday: Fall Series will be at the Levitt Pavilion every Friday of September (Sept. 4-Sept. 25) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The vendors for each week will be announced the Thursday before each event.
