Arlington Tomorrow Foundation to award $50,000 in grants to local charities throughout the day and during the rally

For the second year in row, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation will host an Arlington Gives! rally at the Levitt Pavilion in Downtown Arlington in support of North Texas Giving Day on Thursday, Sept. 17. Several charitable organizations will walk away with sizable checks on that day.

North Texas Giving Day is an online event for people in North Texas to come together and raise as much money as possible for nonprofits in North Texas. In 2014, more than 98,000 gifts totaling $26.3 million benefited 1,580 nonprofits.

Several Arlington-based charitable organizations have been invited to attend this year's rally, which begins promptly at noon. Click here to learn more about the rules and prizes.

Guest speakers include:

  • Jeff Williams, Mayor, City of Arlington
  • Linda Dipert, Founding Member, Women Inspiring Philanthropy (WIP, who will announce the recipients of two large grants from WIP
  • Chris Hightower, Arlington Museum of Art, will unveil a public artwork, the creation of which was announced atArlington Gives! last year
  • Tony Rutigliano, Downtown Arlington Association, who will give an update on the Dream Project, another public art program

The Arlington event is also supported by the City of Arlington, Downtown Arlington Management Corp., and Women Inspiring Philanthropy.

Arlington Tomorrow Foundation Grants Awarded

  • $5,000 - Grant for Arlington nonprofit with the most unique donors between hours of 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • $5,000 - Grant for Arlington nonprofit with the most unique donors between hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • $5,000 - Prize for Arlington nonprofit with the most unique donors between hours of 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • $5,000 - Prize for Arlington nonprofit with the most unique donors between hours of 7 p.m. to midnight.
  • $10,000 - "People's Choice Award" - event attendees will vote on their favorite nonprofit.
  • $10,000 - "Most Spirited Volunteers" - grant for the organization with the "Most Spirited Volunteers" at the Arlington Rally.
  • $2,000 - UTA Collegiate Organizations - Grant drawing from names of UTA collegiate organizations (Greek and service organizations), that provide volunteers for the Arlington Rally. Winner gets to select a resisted Arlington-based nonprofit to receive the prize money.
  • $4,000 - Random selection from all registered and approved nonprofits represented at rally, regardless of size of group.
  • $4,000 - Random drawing of one person who "likes" Arlington Tomorrow Foundation on Facebook at the event. This person gets to choose a registered Arlington-based nonprofit to receive a grant.

Other cities are hosting rallies in Fort Worth, Denton and McKinney.
