As part of its commitment to serve the community, Tarrant County College invites area residents to join its annual multi-campus celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the cultures and contributions of Hispanic Americans. The national observance officially runs Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.
Hosted this year by South, TCC's districtwide, 9th annual "Abrazando al Exito," (Embracing Success) will be held on Oct. 9 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 5301 Campus Dr. The guest speaker is Mariela A. Rodríguez, an associate dean in the Graduate School of the University of Texas at San Antonio who serves as director of Teaching, Learning and Professional Development and a professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.
Other celebrations include a tribute to notable Hispanic-Latinos in history and their career paths on Sept. 17 in the second floor hallway of the Student Center at Northwest, 4801 Marine Creek Parkway. Northeast, 828 W. Harwood Road in Hurst, will host Hispanic Heritage Month: Latinx Leadership on Sept. 19 at 12:30 p.m. in the Larry Darlage Center Corner.
On Sept. 25, Q&A with Artes de la Rosa Cultural Center for the Arts will be held at 2 p.m. in the Energy Auditorium at Trinity River, 300 Trinity Campus Circle. Southeast, 2100 Southeast Parkway in Arlington, will focus on Spanish Language as Culture on Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. in the Campus Library. On Oct. 2, South, 5301 Campus Drive, will host a discussion on business ownership, Tacos y Latinos, at 11 a.m. in the Student Center Living Room.
