Investing in the lives of the next generation is something the Arlington Police Department takes to heart. The APD works with many groups throughout the city to make that impact. This week, the Arlington Alliance for Youth along with First Rate Living honored Officer Jeff Lee and Sharon Jones of the APD for their work with the youth.
Both received the First Rate Living 2018 Extra Mile Award. Office Lee works directly with the next generation of potential officers with the APD's Police Explorers as their lead advisor. Officer Lee has been with the APD Explorer program for 22 years and been setting a great example for the youth that leads them to success.
Jones is the Officer Coordinator for the South Police Service Center but has been a volunteer for the Arlington Life Shelter, Boys and Girls Clubs, Ronald McDonald House and Habitat for Humanity.
The two were honored at a luncheon held by First Rate Living and the Arlington Alliance for Youth that featured Police Chief Will Johnson, Mayor Jeff Williams and many leaders throughout the community.
