Show off your adorable dog or a cat for a chance to be featured in an upcoming calendar and to help support theArlington Animal Services Center's educational programs.
Arlington Animal Services Center's annual photo contest, one of the shelter's biggest fundraisers to help protect animals in the community and find loving homes for homeless pets, is now underway. The contest, which ends August 31, is open to all.
'We want the Arlington Animal Services Center's calendar to feature animals working hard, playing and living their best life in the American Dream City, ' Animal Services Manager Chris Huff said.
This contest works to help the shelter in two ways. First, there is a $5 entry fee per photo that is uploaded to the contest website. Participants can enter as many photos as they like. Also, each time someone votes on their favorite pet picture, the shelter will receive an additional $1 to go toward educational opportunities at Arlington Animal Services Center.
'This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It helps us with educational programs for the shelter, such as responsible pet ownership, bite prevention and anti-bullying in the Arlington community, ' Huff said.
The 14 photos with the most votes and/or donations at the end of the submission period, 5 p.m. August 31, will win a Pin-up of the Month photo in the 2017 calendar. The calendars are expected to be available for sale by Thanksgiving.
Photos must be taken by the pet owner. Professional or stock photos will not be accepted. Horizontal, color digital photos are required and must be a minimum of 300 dpi or 2400 x 3000 pixels in JPG format so they can be reproduced into high-quality 810 photos for the calendar. Cell phone photos are not high-resolution enough. Please do not email photos to the Arlington Animal Services Center.
