Mobile pet adoptions will be at PetSmart at The Highlands two Saturday's this month, on the 9th and 16th of December (weather permitting) from 10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (or until all pets are adopted)! Be sure to visit withGolden PAWS Volunteers to see their homemade creations.
The 2018 Animal Services Pet Calendar is a wonderful gift giving idea for animal lovers of all sorts. This year's calendar features photos of pets belonging to Arlington's Superstar Volunteers. See Bumble, a Lion Head Bunny, and Kitten, a spectacular colorful lizard described as a dramatic dragon diva! A $5 donation for each calendar supports the shelter's educational programs ($8 donation online).
While supplies last, these unique calendars will be available at Jo-Eds Bomber sandwich shop, Creature Comfort Animal Clinic, the South Water Department and main Water Utilities Department location one the first floor ofCity Hall, as well as at the shelter. Get your calendar(s) in time for the holidays and the New Year!
The 2018 Animal Essay Contest kicked-off this week on the 4th of December! In its 17th year, the contest invites students who live in Arlington in the 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th grade that attend either public, private, or home school to participate. Contest essay entries may be submitted beginning on Monday, January 8, 2018 and ending at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018. Arlington Animal Services will be closed Monday, December 25 and Tuesday, December 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. Staff will be onsite to care for animals in the shelter and the center will reopen on Wednesday, December 27, 2017.
