The 2015 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Residential Street Rebuild Project will move ahead after the Arlington City Council approved nearly $1.3M to rebuild Barton Drive in East Arlington.

Beginning this September, crews will rebuild Barton Drive from Sherry Street to Kent Drive as a concrete street with water and sanitary sewer renewals. The project is expected to be completed in March 2016.

According to the project engineer, this is Phase III of the 2011 CDBG East Arlington Residential Street Rebuild Project. The first two phases of the project have been completed. Kimberly Drive is the last remaining street of the overall project and will be rebuilt in a future phase as CDBG funding becomes available.

The construction contract for this phase was awarded to McClendon Construction Company of Burleson on August 4, 2015.

This project is one of many the Public Works department is undergoing to improve road conditions, drainage and sewer pipes around the City.
