Tobi Fawehinmi, a junior track and field jumper at the University of Texas at Arlington, was selected for the U.S. Paralympic Track and Field Team.
One of 66 members selected for the team, Fawehinmi will compete in the 200-meter, 4-by-100 meter relay, long jump and the triple jump.
''We are extremely proud of Tobi,'' UTA coach John Sauerhage said in an article on the university''s website. ''He truly embodies the spirit of the Paralympic Games and will once again represent the United States and UTA with class and honor.''
The Summit High School graduate holds the world record for the longest triple jump among paralympic athletes with a leap of 11 inches for 50 feet at the 2016 NCAA West Preliminary Round.
NBC 5 recently profiled the inspirational athlete.
This will be Fawehinmi''s second time to compete in the Paralympic Games. He finished fifth in the triple jump and 10th in the long jump at the 2012 London Games.
Congratulations Tobi!
