The Arlington ISD has partnered with Music & Arts, one of the largest school band and orchestra instrument retailers and music lesson providers, to establish a new professional high school course geared toward teaching students the art of band and orchestral instrument repair. The program will help students earn their instrument repair technician certification after completion of the two-year course.
When it comes to school curricula, making an investment in music and the arts can enhance traditional studies. The addition of an instrument repair course can help create a more well-rounded opportunity for students. This course will also help meet the increasing demand for skilled technicians in the industry.
"One of our objectives as a district is to ensure that 100 percent of students will graduate on time and excel at their school or career of choice. Providing students the opportunity to succeed in courses that allow them to learn the skills and earn certifications for a career in a field like instrument repair is key to helping our students reach their full maximum potential," Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos said. "We are excited about this new instrument repair course and important industry partnership."
