Veterans Day Commemorative Ceremony

The Arlington Great Southwest Rotary Club invites the community to attend the Veterans Day Commemorative Ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10 at the Veterans Park Memorial, 3600 W. Arkansas Lane. The ceremony, featuring keynote speaker Col. Christopher Talcott, will honor U.S. Armed Forces veterans. A complimentary lunch for attendees will immediately follow the ceremony at the park pavilion. Arlington Heroes Run

Grab your running shoes and head out to the 3rd Annual Arlington Heroes Run 5k and Fun Run Saturday, Nov. 11 at Veterans Park, 3600 W. Arkansas Lane. The Fun Run starts at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K start is at 9 a.m. The run benefits military veterans and emergency first responders. Proceeds go to City of Arlington related 501(c)3 charities. Registration is $25 per person, group registration (10 or more) is $15 each and participants under 16 years can register for $15. Click here to register.

Arlington Heroes Parade

Bring out your lawn chairs and make your way out to the inaugural Arlington Heroes Parade, featuring American Wife author Taya Kyle as grand marshal, this Veterans Day in Downtown Arlington. The parade, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 11 and aims to honor Arlington's veterans, active military members and first responders. The Arlington Heroes Parade is expected to feature floats, vintage cars, firefighters, police officers, veterans, active duty military members, and organizations focused on supporting military and first responders.

UT Arlington Homecoming 2017

UTA's network of more than 200,000 alumni, as well as families, friends and supporters are invited to join in the festivities this weekend. The schedule of events includes volleyball and basketball games, a street festival, a parade, a 5K walk and run, and the annual Distinguished Alumni Awards. The most exciting day of the week will be Saturday, Nov. 11, when the campus will be buzzing with activities all day long:

• The annual Homecoming 5K Walk/Run begins at 10 a.m. and will wind through campus with participants raising money for UTA's Emergency Assistance Fund.
• The UTA women's basketball team takes on Incarnate Word at 2:30 p.m. at College Park Center.
• A street festival begins at 3 p.m. on Spaniolo Drive.
• The annual UTA Homecoming Parade steps off at 5:15 p.m. and culminates with a pep rally in front of College Park Center.
• The men's basketball game starts at 7 p.m. in College Park Center. The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at halftime.

Salvador Dali Exhibit at Arlington Museum of Art

Salvador Dali was a painter, designer, sculptor, writer and set designer. He was also a master engraver who could produce equally outstanding work in dry point, etching, woodcut or lithography. This exhibition features Dali's full series of Dante's The Divine Comedy, for which each of the lithographs presented required as many as 35 colors. There are a total of 101 pieces included in this exhibition. Salvador Dali: Visions of Eternity runs until January 21, 2018. For more information, please visit www.arlingtonmuseum.org.

Herman's Hermits Starring Peter Noone at Arlington Music Hall

Peter Noone is a multi-talented entertainer who has been delighting audiences nearly all his life. At 15 years old, Noone achieved international fame as "Herman", lead singer of the legendary pop band Herman's Hermits. Ultimately, Herman's Hermits sold over 52 million recordings. In all, 14 singles and seven albums went gold. Tony Jackson at Arlington Music Hall

Tony Jackson's "The Grand Tour" video ignited 10 million Facebook views and 200,000 shares in just over three short weeks. Jackson's self-titled debut album features songs and performances by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members John Sebastian, Steve Cropper and Dr. John "Mac" Rebennack, Country Music Hall of Famers Vince Gill, Bill Anderson and Conway Twitty and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame luminary Norro Wilson. UTA Planetarium continues to offer shows to residents and visitors. This includes Stars of the Pharaohs, a planetarium show that visitors on a journey to ancient Egypt to see how science was used to tell time, make a workable calendar, and align huge buildings.
