Come downtown and celebrate the Parks and Recreation Department "s 10th annual Light Up Arlington with great food, awesome music and fireworks this Sunday, July 3! This year "s event has been extended north and south of City Hall to make room for activities. With overflowing crowds and heavy pedestrian traffic, the expansion will help alleviate crowd flow and smooth transportation for both the participants and the vendors. Food trucks will be available on site from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The fireworks start at 9:45 p.m. and will be set to music from 95.9 The Ranch. Get your groove on with live music all night at three stages set up and entertainment featuring top acts in Dallas-Fort Worth area.
On Monday morning (July 4), thousands of spectators dressed in red, white and blue will line the streets of downtown for the iconic Fourth of July Parade, the oldest, longest running event in Arlington. The theme for this year "s parade is"America the Beautiful." The parade, which begins at 9 a.m. and ends at approximately 11 a.m., is dedicated to"those who keep Arlington beautiful," said Donna Darovich, senior parade announcer and public relations coordinator. This year "s event will include about 130 entries, including antique vehicles, several groups on horseback, marching bands, cheerleaders, professionally built parade floats, motorcycles and more.

The Levitt "s Summer Concert Season runs through July 17. Concerts are on Thursday through Sunday nights at 8 p.m. until July 7, when concerts begin later at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday morning Children "s Concerts are at 9:30 a.m. June 8-29, and the Levitt "s new Family Movie Nights are at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings June 8 through July 6. Levitt audiences are seated on an open lawn on blankets or lawn chairs. Picnics and coolers are welcome, but no glass containers, please. Free parking is available in lots all around the pavilion. Virtually unknown photographer Vivian Maier took close to 200,000 photographs while she worked for over 40 years as a nanny primarily on Chicago "s North Shore. Born in New York City, Maier "s hauntingly beautiful images of street life in the City, Chicago, and Los Angeles weren "t discovered until the contents of an abandoned storage unit packed with hundreds of thousands of negatives, hundreds of rolls of film, some printed work and audio recordings were auctioned off. It was then that her talent came to light and told the story of a true creative genius whose life remains shrouded in mystery to this day. Join us for a celebration of life through the lens of Vivian Maier. The exhibit is open at Arlington Museum of Art until Sunday, August 21, 2016.
More than 30 high school student-athletes from Native American tribes across the U.S. and Canada will gather at The University of Texas at Arlington for the 14th annual Native All-Star Football Classic. The event, the only one of its kind in the U.S., begins at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 2 at UTA "s Maverick Stadium, 1307 W.
