CANCELED: Arlington Water Kicks Off National Drinking Water Week with Public Tour

Residents will get a first-hand look at what goes into making Arlington's award-winning tap water in May. Arlington Water Utilities will kick off National Drinking Water Week 2018 with a public tour of its John F. Kubala Water Treatment Plant on May 5.
The event will start at 10 a.m. and space is limited. Community and school groups are being asked to register beforehand by contacting the water department. Tour participants should be at least 10 years old. Email [email protected] to reserve your space and learn more details about the day's activities, which will last until 1 p.m.
The American Water Works Association and its members across the country have celebrated Drinking Water Week for more than 40 years to highlight the value of water in our daily lives. This year's Drinking Water Week runs from May 6-12 and features the theme "Protect the Source."
Arlington Water, a public utility, delivers billions of gallons of safe, high quality water to residents and visitors each year. The John F. Kubala Treatment Plant is in southwest Arlington at 7001 US 287. It was built in 1989 and later named after the City's first water utilities department director. The plant can produce up to 97.5 million gallons per day of treated water. A conservation presentation and a hands-on display by lab personnel will also be featured during the May 5 event.
