Winter registration is now open for youth indoor soccer at Elzie Odom Athletic Center. Children 3 to 14 will play in an eight to nine week season beginning January 7, with games every Saturday at various times.
Registration is $80 per player and includes league jersey, individual participant awards and sports officials. Players will to purchase need shin guards to use at all practices and games.
The biggest benefit of playing indoor soccer for the parents is that they don't have to worry about the weather - they can just sit back and enjoy the action from the comforts of the Arena at Elzie Odom Athletic Center.
"Indoor Soccer is a great starter sport for younger kiddos since the play doesn't stop and there aren't as many distractions," Youth Sports Manager Jimmy Reilly said. "The ball doesn't go 'out of bounds' and there are no butterflies to chase around."
The older kids enjoy the quicker pace of the game. Having a fewer amount of players on the field allows every player to be more involved during every minute of the game Reilly said.
All youth sports leagues are coed, and teams are formed by special request or by zip codes and schools. Registration closes November 30, for more information email league staff at [email protected] or call Elzie Odom Athletic Center at 817-459-6434.
