There was a whole lot of shaking going on...and laughter. The 2015 Youth Pet Grooming Academy at the ArlingtonAnimal Services (AAS) center is proving to be another series of fun, educational events. Saturday, June 6, AAS volunteer Diane Greytak brought her pet therapy animals to participate in bathing and other pet grooming activities. Ruth Edwards, a pet grooming volunteer, educated the youth on proper techniques. The program is offered to youth 6-18 years of age. Since the summer of 2009, over 300 youth have participated in this exciting and informative program. Interested in attending? Register today to participate in the next event scheduled for June 27.
"This is such great information to share with kids and they really loved it!" said the leader of Girl Scout Troop 2044 about the program. A parent of a participant said "I'm so glad we signed up to attend, it was great fun and educational." Another parent, Amy Powell, said she feels the program is really good and enjoyable, and that her "son couldn't stop talking about it" and that she also heard him talking about it to his older sister.
Youth interested in properly bathing and grooming an animal should attend the pet grooming academy. Participants are taught the importance of responsible pet ownership. "The kids learn a lot of information, all while having fun bathing the animals...I cannot wait for the next class!" said AAS Volunteer Administrator, Cheri Colbert.
For more information, and to register for the uncoming class on June 27 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., contact Cheri Colbert at 817-459-6183, or email [email protected].
