City of Arlington crews, Vantage Energy and Boot and Coots, a well control company, worked through the night to resolve a gas well incident located in the LABC gas well in Southwest Arlington. Boots & Coots well control attempted to re-plug the gas well at 4:00 a.m., but was unsuccessful in their attempt. Boots and Coots will be bringing in additional resources to replace the gas wellhead as quickly and safely as possible. While there has been no gas released to this point, the possibility exist that a release could occur.

All citizens are asked to stay away from the area impacted by this gas well incident.
Saturday afternoon an issue materialized with the fracking operation that resulted in flow back of pressurized fracking water.

Vantage Energy, the well operator, called 9-1-1 at 2:53 p.m. Saturday and Arlington Fire Department responded at 2:58 p.m. A joint command post was established at 3300 block of Little Road. The Emergency Operations Center was activated at 5 p.m. and will remain operational until the issue is resolved.

As a precaution, a limited evacuation was called for in the following areas:

• Oak Bourne Drive
• Englishtown Drive
• Willowdale Drive
• Jewell Drive

At 8 p.m. Saturday Vantage Energy attempted to control the well by injecting mud into the well. The well control effort was not successful. The Arlington Fire Department is maintaining an emergency scene control perimeter to keep the local area safe.
As of 12 a.m. Sunday, no gas release has occurred.

At 4 a.m. Sunday Boots & Coots well control attempted to re-plug the gas well, but was unsuccessful in their attempt.Boots & Coots is bringing additional well control equipment to the scene. A new control effort plan has been developed.

At 8 a.m. this morning Boots & Coots, Vantage Energy, and Arlington Fire Department will work together to begin a new well control effort.
Current evacuation plan remains in effect, unless a determination is made to increase the evacuation perimeter based on well site information.

If this occurs APD and AFD members will initiate the evacuation and an emergency shelter will be established at Martin High School.
No emergency shelters are opened currently.

Lake Arlington Baptist Church will have services at Martin High School Auditorium on Sunday.

Arlington Fire Department and the City of Arlington will provide regular updates on social media until the situation is resolved.
