Arlington Parks and Recreation Department presents the first Party on the Patio of 2015 this Friday at Tierra Verde Golf Club! The summer concert series features food, drink specials and live music by local Dallas – Fort Worth area bands. Food Trucks Holy Frijole and Bellatrino (Neopolitan Wood-Fired Pizza) will be on site at Tierra Verde Golf Club. Ventana Grill will also have a burger bar available. Bring your blankets or lawn chairs for your added comfort. Doors open at 6 p.m. with live music from 7-10 p.m. Kids 17 and under get in free and there 's a $7 cover for adults.
One of the biggest fishing tournaments in the region is happening this weekend in The American Dream City! Arlington Parks and Recreation Department 's third annual Arlington Bass Classic kicks off this Saturday, April 11 at Lake Arlington. The tournament start time is 7:00 a.m. with angler check-in beginning at 5:30 a.m. at the Lake Office in Richard Simpson Park. Tournament will end at 3:00 p.m. Registration is $60 per team (1 or 2 people). Entry fee is $50 if one team member is 17 or under. One boat per team. Top five places paid for biggest stringer.
The Highlander Spring Craft Fair & SHHS Alumni Association 's Craft & Vendor Fair
There are a couple of great arts and crafts shows for you and your family to check out at a couple of AISD schools this weekend! The 2015 Highlander Spring Craft Fair runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, April 11. The event features local artisans, food trucks and more. $2 for adults, $1 for AISD students & employees and children under 5 are free. And the Sam Houston High School Alumni Association hosts its first annual Craft and Vendor Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. also on Saturday. It takes place in the cafeteria at Sam Houston. $2 for adults and kids get in free. All proceeds will go to scholarship funds for deserving Sam Houston High School seniors.
Regular season baseball arrives in The American Dream City this weekend at Globe Life Park in Arlington! After starting the season on the road in Oakland, the Rangers home opener is this Friday at 3:05 p.m. While that game is sold out, the Houston Astros are in town for a three-game series that lasts until Sunday. First pitch Saturday night is 7:05 p.m. and Sunday 's game is at 2:05 p.m. The team is also home Monday through Wednesday for a three-game series against the Angels. Drop Everything and Read or D.E.A.R. is designed to remind people to make reading a priority in their lives, regardless of their age. Arlington is one of 24 cities throughout the state celebrating this special event with special guest and award-winning author Deborah J. Lightfoot. She will be signing copies of her WATERSPELL fantasy trilogy at the Lincoln Half Price Books. The yearly celebration is held on Sunday, April 12 in honor of Beverly Cleary 's birthday, an author most famous for the series Ramona Quimby and who first wrote about D.E.A.R. in the classic "Ramona Quimby, Age 8 ". The celebration is free to attend and will be held from 2-4 p.m at Half Price Books located at Lincoln Square 770 E. Road to Six Flags in Arlington.
