The Abram Street rebuild through Downtown Arlington kicks off Monday, March 19.
The Arlington City Council awarded a $26.1 million contract with Rebcon Inc. of Dallas on Feb. 27 to rebuild Abram Street between Cooper and Collins streets. Construction on this transformative project is anticipated to wrap up by March 2020.
The first phase of construction includes the removal of the traffic island at the southeast corner of Cooper and Abram streets and the installation of temporary lanes along the south curb line of Abram Street between Monroe and Lampe streets. Drivers should expect outside lane closures on northbound and southbound Cooper street approaching Abram Street as well as the outside eastbound lane of Abram Street between Monroe and Center streets.
