Arlington drivers can soon look forward to smoother ride on Green Oaks Boulevard between Pioneer Parkway and Arkansas Lane and between Pleasant Ridge Road to Interstate 20.
Construction to repair Green Oaks in those sections is expected to begin Wednesday, June 1 and be complete by December. Little Road from Green Oaks Boulevard to Poly Webb Road will also be included in the estimated $5.7 million project, which will be funded through the voter-approved Street Maintenance Sales Tax Fund.
The project includes milling off the existing road surface and repairing failed sections of concrete paving underneath. Once the concrete repairs are complete, a new two-inch asphalt overlay road surface will be applied.
"Once completed, the roads will be much smoother," said Bill Bateman, Public Works and Transportation operations manager.
Electronic message boards will warn motorists about lane closures throughout the project duration.
"Green Oaks Boulevard and Little Road will be open to northbound and southbound traffic at all times but there will be lane closures, which could cause delays," Bateman said. "Please be patient and pay attention to construction personnel and flaggers and follow their directions for your safety and the safety of the workers."
