The newest "Culture Buzz" segment on MyArlingtonTV takes a journey across The American Dream City with theStar of Texas Challenge, a social media event inviting residents to take pictures with all 20 stars included in the Arlington Museum of Art's "Star of Texas" project.
"The Star of Texas" project, officially unveiled by the Arlington Museum of Art as an exhibit back in November 2015, celebrates the city's brand, Arlington: The American Dream City, with each star positioned throughout Arlington's Cultural Arts District, Downtown area, the Entertainment District and many other places in the city.
More than 150 people have completed the Star of Texas Challenge since it was unveiled on the City's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages back on July 18, 2016.
Winners of the challenge receive a special edition "Star of Texas" Challenge t-shirt and earlier this summer the Arlington Museum of Art offered winners free admission to the Vivian Maier: Lost and Found exhibit, which was open from Saturday, May 21 to Sunday, August 21, 2016.
The City's Office of Communication held prize drawings for all of the winners in partnership with the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau. The grand prize packages included tickets to Six Flags Over Texas tickets, Hurricane Harbor tickets, Rangers ballpark tours, food at Piranha Killer Sushi, Mellow Mushroom and more.
