The 220,000-square-foot modern glass and steel building will provide a new, iconic southern entry to the UTA campus, south of the existing Life Science building. The project will add 900 teaching seats in lecture halls and classrooms, which will support enrollment growth across campus, especially the planned growth in the College of Engineering, the College of Nursing and Health Innovation and the College of Science.
One researcher excited about the SEIR building is Dr. Mark Pellegrino, an internationally recognized biologist who began as an assistant professor at UT Arlington in August 2016.
Pellegrino's studies on mitochondrial stress are of growing interest because of the implications for multiple conditions such as cancer, Parkinson's disease and bacterial infections. You can read and hear about how Mark is living his American Dream right here in Arlington.
According to the university, the SEIR is expected to be open in August 2018 on the south side of the UTA campus.
