A Masonic Lodge in Arlington will honor several City firefighters and paramedics Tuesday, March 10 for their quick action on Nov. 20 which saved the life of a 61-year-old woman after being overcome by smoke inhalation.
Arlington Masonic Lodge No. 438, located at 1415 W Abram Street, will present the inaugural "Life Saving Award " to the first responders during its monthly meeting.
Arlington firefighters and paramedics were at the home within minutes of the call going out. When firefighters arrived, they forced their way into the smoke-filled apartment and found the woman unconscious in the bedroom and used a Cyanokit to save her life, which aided in the patient 's full recovery.
Life Saving Awards are given to personnel for outstanding actions executed during performance of duty; in this case locating the fire, the rescue and medical treatment of the victim, and ongoing actions to control and put out the fire.
The crews demonstrated a high level of attention to detail and application of skills in all areas of the Fire Department 's core mission: life safety, incident stabilization, and property conservation.
